This webinar will offer global perspectives about how to think through cultural issues at the research design stage. The cultural context is essential for researchers whether you are studying your own community or others’ communities. We will discuss practical questions such as:
• Given that more are turning to online research due to pandemic restrictions, researchers can reach new populations in places where they don’t have the benefit of being on the ground, observing interactions or having informal conversations, or being able to observe the community. How do you understand another’s culture(s) when all you see is a face on a screen?
• How can researchers engage with representatives or participants from different cultures to define problems that merit study?
• When researching within a familiar culture, how can you avoid conflicts of interest or biases?
This webinar will begin at 1pm GMT.
